CHANDIGARH: In yet another petition related to the prevailing tension in Punjab, a plea has been filed in the Punjab and Haryana high court seeking directions to take immediate steps to protect the sovereignty and integrity of the country.
The petition sought conclusive steps against the persons attempting to spoil the peace, harmony and brotherhood in Punjab and to initiate appropriate legal action against them.
The petitioner, an activist from Ambala and currently living in Zirakpur, mentioned that every single person living in Punjab had suffered the dark days of terrorism in the past, which saw thousands of innocent persons being killed and losing their properties.
“Unfortunately, now again, in the state of Punjab terrorism is trying to raise its head and one Amritpal Singh, so called president of ‘Waris Punjab De‘, is trying to become a catalyst for the radicals and anti-social and anti-India elements,” read the plea filed by the activist through advocate Atul Lakhanpal. “
Amritpal Singh has been spewing venom in his public utterances, raising pro-Khalistan slogans and is inciting the general public to take up arms to support the Khalistan campaign and moves around with heavily armed people, disturbing the peace and tranquility of the state,” the plea added.
