New Delhi: Foreign minister S Jaishankar on Saturday embarked on a five-day visit to the UK, looking to provide a fresh impetus to the growing bilateral ties. He is expected to hold discussions with his counterpart James Cleverly and other dignitaries during the visit.
Jaishankar and Cleverly are expected to explore the possibility of a visit later this year by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak amid efforts to conclude the ongoing negotiations for a free trade agreement.
“India and the UK share a warm and thriving relationship. The India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership was launched in 2021 along with the India-UK Roadmap 2030. The Roadmap is a commitment to a partnership that delivers for both the countries. EAM’s visit will give a new impetus to the friendly ties between the two countries,” said the government in a statement, announcing Jaishankar’s visit.
