NEW DELHI: Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Saturday claimed that thousands of contractual staff, regular employees and pensioners were facing a “black Diwali” this year.
Sachdeva alleged that the Kejriwal government had not paid salariesto thousands of its contract teachers, civil defence volunteers, mohalla clinics staff, hospital guards, etc.“Thousands of old DTC pensioners are not getting their pension. In MCD, thousands of teachers apart from group C, B & A employees have not received their salaries till Diwali day,” he claimed.
Earlier, during the day, mayor Shelly Oberoi said that for the past 15 years when BJP was in power, MCD employees had been observing a “dry Diwali”.
“This is the first Diwali after AAP came to power in MCD. Now, they are getting their salaries on time. We have also given them a bonus, and the process to regularise them has also started,” the mayor said. tnn
