NEW DELHI: With increasing congestion across cities in India, Maruti Suzuki expects sales of its vehicles with automatic gear shift to pick up further next year, Shashank Srivastava, senior executive officer, marketing and sales, said.
Marutiintroduced auto gear shift (AGS) in 2013-14 on Celerio. It has sold 7. 7 lakh units of such vehicles across portfolio so far. In terms of auto gear penetration, he said, “It varies between 12% and 23% across models”. On the increasing acceptance of the technology, Srivastava said it is mainly due to affordability factor. He cited example of entry-level SUVs where price difference between a normal transmission and AGS, is about Rs 50,000.
